My Chai Disaster

My Chai Disaster

I really wanted to make a cup of chai tea. I had a HUGE craving however, I didn’t have alot of time that day so I started the chai on the stove and went off to multitask a number of different things. I came back to the pot, the chai was brewing nicely, I added the milk, cranked up the heat and walked away. I got so caught up in emails that I forgot about the chai. The next thing was that I heard a big noise coming from the kitchen. I couldn’t figure out what it was. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks! OH NO! MY CHAI! I ran to the kitchen but it was too late. There was milk and chai everywhere. On the stove, under the burner, on the wall, on the floor…well you get the idea. I took the pot off the stove and turned of the heat. Too late. The smoke alarm went off. Great, just great. Isn’t tea supposed to be relaxing? Anyway, to make a long story short, I managed to get the smoke alarm off before the fire dept showed up. It took me 1.5 hours to clean the kitchen and I was so fed up that I just wanted to cry. I thought once again about the exotic flavors of a cup of steaming chai……..

So, as crazy as it was, I started again. It was worth it. I made the chai a little extra sweet just to make up for it.

Lesson Learned: take the time to make chai. The 15-20 min it takes is worth it rather than mopping up a huge mess!
